  • Staff and Pupil Fundraiser for School and for Autism NI - Destination Challenge

    Fri 30 Apr 2021

So many of us have really missed holidays and travelling in the last year, and are dreaming of city breaks and sunny beaches, however we have also discovered or rediscovered the joy of getting out and getting moving – many of us have seen big benefits to our physical and mental health through participating in step count challenges. We want to share that with the whole Rathcoole community, and so we are asking you to support our Destination Challenge, where we will walk (virtually) around Europe, raising money for our school and for AutismNI.

The staff will be pooling their weekly step counts to cover the miles between a number of European cities, starting and ending at Rathcoole.

The pupils will be helping us out by walking laps of the playground in May to complete “A Mile a Day in May”.

In total, we hope to take around 8 million steps.

At RPS, we have missed our opportunities this year to fundraise for our own school and for charities, and so we invite you to sponsor our staff efforts via https://www.gofundme.com/f/autismni-step-challenge to raise money for our school, and the pupil’s efforts to raise money for AutismNI, using the sponsor form they will bring home at a later date, in recognition of our new Autism Specific Class, the Sunflower Room.

  • Student Counil 2021

    *** School Council 2021 ***

A huge WELL DONE to our fantastic School Council, who held their first meeting today, socially distanced in their class bubbles in our amazing new outdoor classroom.

The school councillors will represent the views and voices of their classes, and have already come up with some exciting ideas for the future of our school.

They also shared some feedback about what makes our school such a wonderful place to be a pupil, including:

    - supportive teachers
    - staff who work to make things fair for everyone
    - a love of nature and the outdoors
    - fun and creative work

What a lovely way to begin our School Council journey.

Many thanks to our Councillors Kayla, Jayden, Lexi, Arthur, Isla, Zach and Lewis, and to our Head Pupils Kristy and Faith for their support.
