Helm Housings generous donation to Rathcoole Primary School and Nursery Unit
The local community in Rathcoole came together today to welcome new residents at the handover of a new general needs housing development in Deerfin Park by Helm Housing for social housing.
Local school children and staff from nearby Rathcoole Primary and Nursery School were on hand to take part in the planting of bushes in a small landscaped area to mark the occasion. While helping with the finishing touches to the development, the school also received a cheque for £1,000, donated by Helm Housing and Donaghmore Construction Ltd who carried out the work on the new development.
Speaking at the handover of the new homes, Sean Madden, Senior Development Officer at Helm Housing said:
“We’re very pleased that Helm Housing has been able to make a donation, along with our construction partners, Donaghmore Construction Ltd, to the Rathcoole Primary School development fund. It is important to us that we make a positive contribution to the whole community and we hope these funds will go some way to improving the environment of the school for the enjoyment of all current and future pupils.”
Receiving the cheque on behalf of Rathcoole Primary and Nursery School was Principal Mrs Quinn, who added:
“Our school plans to build an innovative new play area to the front of the building, made using recycled materials and including an area where students can grow their own vegetables. The playground will be designed by none other than our own students and we’ve received a number of excellent designs already. We are very grateful to both Helm Housing and Donaghmore Construction for their generous donation which will help us make this a reality.”
Cinemagic come to Rathcoole Primary School.
Actor and Director Timothy Fergusson came along to school with the Cinemagic team to show "A Christmas Star". Children asked him about his life, acting and role in the limelight. We had a fantastic afternoon and Timothy even mentioned us on his facebook account!!
Well done to all involved.
