World Around Us - Treasure maps - (WEDNESDAY 6TH & THURSDAY 7TH APRIL)

Today's world around us activity is all about reading maps. The video below explains the directions - North, south, east and west and how we can remember them. Understanding directions will come in very handy when reading the treasure map attached.

Follow the instructions on the treasure map page to find out where the treasure is buried. Will you be able to find the buried treasure?... Good luck!

When you are finished reading the map, try to create your own treasure map. A treasure map template is attached below. Here are a few ideas of places you could include on your map:

  • A beach
  • Mountains
  • A forest
  • rivers/lakes
  • A village

When you are finished creating your map, try to write your own instructions for pirates to find the treasure. Make you sure are using directional language including:

  • Left/right
  • Forwards/backwards
  • Clockwise/anti-clockwise
  • North, south, east and west.

Upload your child's work to your private dojo page or send it via message where I will mark, comment and return by 4 p.m. today. If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards

Miss Mayne
